Alphitonia petriei, also known as white ash, is a rainforest tree found in eastern and northern Australia. It was first collected in 1917 and officially described and named in 1925. This species is typically a small tree, but can reach up to 40 meters in height. Its bark is grey and has a strong scent when peeled or bruised. The leaves are dark green on top and covered in fine white hairs underneath. Creamy flowers appear in clusters and are followed by dark fruit. Alphitonia petriei is found in coastal rainforests and eucalyptus forests in northern Australia down to New South Wales. Its leaves and shoots are a food source for farm animals.
