Ficus auriculata, also known as the Roxburgh fig, is a fig tree native to Asia. It is known for its large and round leaves, which can reach up to 44 cm in length and 45 cm in width. This small tree grows up to 10 meters tall and has bristle-covered branches. Its oblate syconium, or fruit, is covered in yellow pubescence and is about 4 cm wide. The plant is dioecious, meaning male and female flowers are produced on separate individuals. It is commonly found in moist valleys in forested areas. The plant has various uses, including being consumed as food and used as fodder in Nepal. It is also known for its diuretic, laxative, and digestive regulating properties. The insect Ceratosolen emarginatus helps to pollinate this plant. While it is not resistant to fire, it thrives in areas with ample sunlight.
