Adonis pyrenaica, also known as Pyrenean pheasant's eye, is a rare plant species in the Ranunculaceae family. It is native to the Pyrenees and Cordillera cantabrica regions in southwestern Europe, with one known station in the Maritime Alps of southeast France. This plant is also grown as an ornamental plant. It thrives in rocky mountain habitats, particularly in areas with calcareous or siliceous scree and stony lawns, at elevations of 1,300-2,400 meters above sea level. Adonis pyrenaica has an erect stem and produces yellow flowers with 10-15 obovate petals. It blooms from June to July and is pollinated by insects, while its seeds are dispersed by animals.

Germination/Propagation Top
Suggest a correction or add new data!Expose seeds to natural outdoor winter conditions for 3 months, then gradually increase light and temperature in the spring. |
Sow seeds immediately as their viability decreases rapidly, or they best germinate when fresh. If stored, seeds might need temperature cycling and patience to germinate. |
much chaff and nonviable seed is typical; short viability; very poor germination; does not need chilling if seed is fresh |
