Common products:
- Ornamental shrub cultivated for landscaping, garden borders, and living fences in temperate and alpine regions; noted for bright yellow blossoms, glossy foliage, and clusters of red to orange berries that persist into winter. Nurseries market selected forms of B. floribunda for rock‑garden and container planting, reflecting demand for low‑maintenance decorative shrubs in horticulture. The species tolerates well‑drained soils, full sun to partial shade, and occasional frost, making it suitable for erosion control on steep slopes and for drought‑tolerant plantings.

Food and beverages (non‑medicinal):
- Ripe berries are harvested in late summer to autumn from both wild stands and cultivated plants. They are consumed fresh or processed into local foods such as chutneys, pickles, jams, and dried fruit. Typical preparation methods include washing the fruit, removing stems, cooking with sugar or salt, and sealing in jars. In Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Nepal the berries provide a tart flavor prized in regional cuisines. In local markets the fresh berries are sold alongside processed products, and the fruit is occasionally used as a flavoring component in savory sauces for meat dishes.

Wood and fiber:
- The compact, hard wood of mature stems is used for small craft items, including tool handles, walking sticks, and decorative carvings. Artisans value the timber for its straight growth habit, fine grain, and ability to take a smooth finish. The wood’s strength and low shrinkage on drying make it appropriate for hand‑worked objects that require durability under frequent handling. The material is also turned into small dowels and kitchen‑utensil handles, benefiting from its smooth surface after sanding.

Properties relevant to use:
- Fruit: the berries exhibit high acidity (commonly measured pH around 2.5–3.0) and moderate soluble‑solid content (≈8–12 °Brix). These attributes give the fruit its characteristic sharp taste used in chutney and pickle formulations. Organic acids such as malic and citric acid are the primary contributors to the acidity.
- Wood: density typically falls within 0.85–0.95 g cm⁻³, with high compressive and bending strength and low shrinkage during seasoning. These physical properties enable precise carving, fine finishing, and reliable performance of small wooden implements.
