Common products:
Macadamia integrifolia produces the commercial macadamia kernels used whole or as an ingredient in confectionery, bakery, and snack applications. Whole kernels are traded raw, roasted, or blanched; cracked shell (testa) is removed for kernel use. Oil is expressed from kernels and sold as a culinary oil. Inedible coproducts include the hard shell, which is used for mulching and as a fuel source, and the dried husk, typically a by-product of in-shell processing.

Food and beverages (non-medicinal):
Kernels are eaten as a snack and incorporated into baked goods, desserts, chocolate, ice cream, and confections. Kernel oil is used as a culinary oil and a component of specialty formulations such as spreads or baking fat. The species is recognized as a food in Codex Alimentarius standard CXS 1-1969 for macadamia nuts, and the kernels are used in food production as a valued ingredient.

Properties relevant to use:
High kernel oil content (about 70–80% on a dry basis) with a monounsaturated fatty acid profile supports its use as an edible oil. The seed coat (testa) is a film-like layer adhering to kernels and is removed during processing for marketability. The pericarp develops into a hard, thick shell that remains largely unutilized in food but is a durable carbon source for fuel or activated carbon; the husks are fibrous processing residues.

Fragrance and cosmetics:
Macadamia oil is used in non-medicinal cosmetics and toiletries as a skin-conditioner and emollient, particularly in creams, lotions, and hair care.

Standards and regulation:
Macadamia nuts are covered by Codex Alimentarius standard CXS 1-1969 for macadamia nuts (M. integrifolia and related Macadamia species).
