Bothriochloa pertusa, also known as hurricane grass, Indian couch grass, and pitted bluestem, is a species of grass that is commonly used as fodder and grazing for livestock. It is native to Asia, but has been intentionally introduced to many regions including Australia, the Americas, the Pacific, and Africa. It is a perennial grass that spreads through stolons and can grow up to 1.6 meters in length. It is able to grow in various types of soil and can withstand drought, disturbance, and fire. This grass is also used for erosion control, mine reclamation, and as a lawn in landscaping projects. It is well-known for its use as a fodder for livestock and is often planted as a pasture grass. However, it can become invasive and difficult to control in some regions. It is also host to many fungi, some of which can be pathogenic. In New Caledonia, it has become invasive and is a food source for the Javan rusa.
