Oenothera deltoides subsp. howellii, also known as the Antioch Dunes evening primrose, is a rare and endangered plant species in the Onagraceae family. It is a short-lived perennial with thick stems and grayish lance-shaped leaves covered in hairs. Its white flowers bloom for only one night and are an important host plant for a rare species of sweat bee. This subspecies is only found in a small sand dune habitat near the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers in California. It was declared endangered in 1979 and its habitat is now restricted to the Antioch Dunes National Wildlife Refuge, which was formed to protect this plant and other endangered species. A recent review of its status confirmed its endangered status.
