Talipariti elatum, also known as the blue mahoe, is a flowering tree in the mallow family that is native to Cuba, Jamaica, the US Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. It can grow up to 20 meters tall and is known for its straight trunk, broad green leaves, and hibiscus-like flowers that change color as they mature. The tree's wood, which has a distinctive blue-green streaking, is highly valued for its durability and is used for making furniture, decorative objects, and musical instruments. Mahoe is also known for its use in traditional Cuban cigar-making. While it has been introduced to other parts of the world for evaluation, it is primarily found in its native Caribbean region.
