Common products:
Fruit pulp yields a red‑brown to dark brown dye suitable for protein fibers (wool, silk). The dye is obtained by aqueous extraction of fresh or fermented pulp and may be fixed on textile fibers using alkaline or mordant treatments typical for vegetable dyes (e.g., alum, iron).

Wood and fiber:
The wood is fine‑grained and yellowish; it is used for small craft items (e.g., combs, utensils) and occasionally for plywood or veneer in specialty applications.

Fragrance and cosmetics:
The plant is cultivated in parts of Asia as an ornamental; flower fragrance has been noted in horticultural descriptions, but specific essential‑oil production or cosmetic ingredient uses are not documented.

Food and beverages (non-medicinal):
Fruit pulp is processed into syrup, candy, preserves, or wine in China and Japan; the fruit is typically processed (cooked or fermented) to improve palatability. Seeds are not widely consumed.

Properties relevant to use:
The fruit dye exhibits high water solubility and good substantivity on wool under neutral to mildly alkaline conditions; color strength increases with concentration and may be fixed using mordants. The timber shows fine, even grain and moderate hardness suitable for turning and small joinery; sapwood and heartwood are similar in density.
