Passiflora ligularis, also known as sweet granadilla or grenadia, is a plant species in the Passiflora genus. It is native to the Andes Mountains in South America, but can also be found in other tropical regions such as Africa and Australia. The fruit of this plant is commonly known as granadilla in many countries and is known for its sweet taste and nutritional benefits. The plant has long stems that can reach up to 5 meters in length and produces greenish-white flowers. The fruit is round with a hard outer shell and contains a gelatinous pulp that is edible and rich in vitamins and minerals. The main producers of this fruit are Peru, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, South Africa, Rwanda, and Kenya, while the main importers include the United States, Canada, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Spain.
