Garcinia prainiana, also known as the button mangosteen or cherapu, is a species of Garcinia that is native to Malaysia and Thailand. It has a unique flavor that has been compared to a tangerine, and its thin skin makes it easy to eat by hand. Unlike its cousin, the purple mangosteen, it can be grown in a container. The fruit is primarily cultivated in Southeast Asia, but can also be found in South Florida at the Whitman Tropical Fruit Pavilion. The tree itself is small or medium-sized and was even featured on a Malaysian stamp in 1999.
