Kayea assamica produces a heavy, durable hardwood used locally for construction, structural timbers, poles, posts, and, where resources are available, furniture. In the region of occurrence, it is valued for rural construction and load-bearing components in buildings and bridges.
Industrial and craft applications:
The species is utilized for utility poles, marine piles and planks, and heavy-duty interior components. Its density and abrasion resistance make it suitable for industrial flooring and platforming, though commercial scale remains limited. Its natural oiliness can serve as a slight polishing aid during planing, and the wood may be used in craftwork for turned objects when available.
