Goniothalamus tamirensis is a plant species belonging to the Annonaceae family, native to Cambodia, Laos, Peninsular Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. It was named after the region in Cambodia where it was first collected by French botanists J.B. Louis Pierre and François Gagnepain. This small tree has red, velvety hairs on its young branches and black hairs on older branches. Its leaves are elliptical in shape and covered in red wooly hairs on the underside. The flowers are solitary or in pairs, with triangular sepals and six petals in two rows. The fruit is oval and hairless, with multiple carpels and wedge-shaped styles. G. tamirensis is found in dry evergreen forests at elevations of 10-500 meters. Its leaves have been reported to have bioactive molecules with mitogenic activity. The pollen of this species is shed as permanent tetrads.
