Annona macroprophyllata is a plant species found in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico. It was named by American botanist John Donnell Smith after its large leaves. The plant grows up to 3-4 meters tall and has elliptical, hairless leaves with rounded or slightly indented tips. Its flowers are solitary and have rust-colored hairs on the sepals and fine hairs on the outer petals. The plant is primarily used for its bioactive molecules, which have been found to have alpha-glucosidase inhibitor activity. It is typically found at an elevation of 1,110 meters.
