Tulipa sylvestris, also known as the wild tulip or woodland tulip, is a plant in the lily family native to Eurasia and North Africa. It can be found in countries such as Portugal, Morocco, and China, and is also cultivated as an ornamental plant in Europe and North America. This bulb-forming perennial has blue-grey leaves and produces yellow flowers with a red tinge. It is pollinated by small insects and is mostly found in dry grassy areas and woodland copses. There are three known subspecies of Tulipa sylvestris, with one subspecies being limited to a specific area in the Mediterranean Sea. This species was first recorded in Britain in the late 17th century.
