Common products:
Fraxinus floribunda is primarily known as a source of hardwood timber. The wood is used for furniture, interior joinery, flooring, and general construction. It is also employed in the production of tool handles, sports equipment, and turned items. Sawn timber may be graded and traded under national and regional hardwood standards (e.g., IS 401 and IS 4970), and products are often kiln-dried before use. The species occurs in hill forests across South and Southeast Asia and may be included in regional trade as “mahal” or “Asian ash” hardwood, with variability in form and logging history depending on locality.

Wood and fiber:
The wood consists of dense, straight-grained ring-porous structure, suitable for high-load applications and machining. It can be planed, turned, and finished to a smooth surface. Fiber characteristics are typical of ring-porous hardwoods, supporting use in furniture and joinery where dimensional stability and surface finish are required. Preservative treatment prior to outdoor exposure may be specified where durability against decay or insects is needed; such treatments are applied in accordance with recognized practices for hardwoods.
