Salvia axillaris is a perennial plant that is commonly found in central Mexico, specifically from San Luis Potosí to Oaxaca. It is often used as a ground cover in horticulture due to its ability to spread through shoots that root at the nodes. This plant can reach up to 1 meter in height and has a wide range of leaf variations depending on its growing location. Its flowers are small and white, hidden inside a dark purple calyx with a hooded upper lip.
