Breonadia is a genus of flowering plants in the Rubiaceae family, consisting of only one species, Breonadia salicina. This species is found in tropical and southern Africa, as well as Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and Madagascar. It is a medium to large evergreen tree with lanceolate leaves and small yellow flowers. Breonadia salicina is used in traditional medicine for various ailments and has been found to have antibacterial and antifungal properties. Genetic diversity is low within individual populations, but high between populations due to their small size and distance from each other. The tree is also used as a source of wood for building and has been found to have potential for food preservation.
