Gentiana linearis, also known as the narrowleaf gentian, is a flowering plant native to northeastern North America and the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia, Virginia, and Tennessee. It grows to a height of 1-2 feet (30-61 cm) and has paired, lanceolate leaves on unbranched stalks. The blooms are typically blue or purple and remain closed or nearly closed. The leaves are narrower than other "bottle gentians" such as Gentiana clausa and Gentiana andrewsii.
