Quercus glabrescens is a type of oak tree that is native to the mountains of east-central Mexico. It can grow up to 15 meters tall and has thick, leathery leaves with wavy edges. This tree is found in the southern Sierra Madre Oriental, eastern Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, and Sierra Madre de Oaxaca ranges, in several states in Mexico. It is typically found in mountain cloud forests and sometimes in conifer forests at elevations between 2,270 to 3,000 meters. Quercus glabrescens is an important species in its habitat and is often associated with other tree species such as oyamel. While there has been some habitat loss due to logging and clearing for agriculture, the population of Quercus glabrescens is considered stable and it is not currently at risk of decline. Overall, its conservation status is considered to be of Least Concern.
