Quercus chihuahuensis, also known as the Chihuahua oak, is a type of oak tree found in western Texas, Sonora, Mexico, and parts of Zacatecas and San Luis Potosí. It typically grows at mid elevations in mixed forests with pines and other oaks. This species is a dominant tree in the Sierra Madre Occidental region of Chihuahua and Sonora. It can reach heights of up to 10 meters and has green leaves on the top and yellow or gray on the underside due to a coating of velvety hairs. It is closely related to two other oak species and may hybridize with them in Texas.
