Section Quercus sect. Cerris in Subgenus Quercus subgen. Cerris

In botanical taxonomy, a section is a taxonomic rank that is used to group related species within a subgenus or genus. The Section rank is placed below the Subgenus rank and above the Species rank in the hierarchy of taxonomic ranks.
Sections are used to group together species of plants that share certain characteristics and are more closely related to one another than to species in other sections within the same subgenus or genus.
Sections are further divided into smaller taxonomic ranks, such as subsections and series, based on their shared characteristics and evolutionary relationships. Botanists use these classifications to study and better understand the relationships between different groups of plants.
