Vachellia erioloba, commonly known as the camel thorn, giraffe thorn, mokala tree, or Kameeldoring in Afrikaans, is a tree native to southern Africa in the family Fabaceae. It is a slow-growing, drought-resistant tree that can grow up to 20 metres high, with light-grey thorns and ear-shaped pods. The wood is dark reddish-brown and very dense and strong. The tree is favoured by many herbivores, including giraffe, and the seeds can be roasted and used as a substitute for coffee beans. It is also associated with the PBS wildlife program Nature, as the tree is used in the title sequence and program logo. It is a protected tree in South Africa.
