Mimosa diplotricha, also known as the giant sensitive plant, is a leguminous woody shrub native to the Neotropics. It is now an invasive species with a pantropical distribution. Its taxonomy includes three varieties, and it is commonly known by various names in different regions. The plant has bipinnate leaves that are sensitive to touch and can grow up to 3 meters tall. Its flowers are pale pink and develop into clustered seed pods. Mimosa diplotricha is extremely invasive and can form impenetrable thickets, affecting movement and agriculture. It is listed as one of the world's 100 worst invasive species by the IUCN.
