Lupinus sericeus, also known as silky lupine or Pursh's silky lupine, is a flowering plant in the legume family native to western North America. It has erect stems covered in silvery or reddish hairs and leaves with lance-shaped leaflets. The flowers are usually purple or blue, but can also be white or yellowish. This plant can be found in a variety of habitats, including forests, woodlands, and grasslands, and is often found in recently burned areas. It is toxic to sheep due to its concentration of quinolizidine alkaloids, but is not harmful to other wild animals such as deer. Other animals, such as bighorn sheep and Columbia ground squirrels, feed on this plant.
