Dalbergia retusa, also known as Caviuna, Cocobolo, or Nicaraguan Rosewood, is a plant species found in the Pacific regions of Central America. It is a fair-sized tree, reaching heights of 20-25 meters, and is known for producing the highly sought-after cocobolo wood. Due to its beauty and value, the trees that produce this wood have been heavily exploited, making them rare outside of protected areas. The tree also produces a compound called retusin, which is an O-methylated flavonoid.
