Anadenanthera colubrina, also known as vilca, huilco, huilca, wilco, willka, curupay, curupau, cebil, or angico, is a South American tree closely related to yopo. It can grow up to 5-20 meters tall and has a thorny trunk. The leaves are mimosa-like and fold up at night. It produces flowers from September to December in Argentina and bean pods from September to July. In Brazil, it is considered a high priority for conservation. A. colubrina is found in various countries including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Cuba, and Mauritius. It grows in rocky hillsides with well-drained soil and can reach a height of 1-1.5 meters per year. The tree has various uses, including as a source of food, gum, tannin, and wood. Its beans are also used to make a snuff called vilca, which contains bufotenin, DMT, and 5-MeO-DMT. A. colubrina has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years, and archaeological evidence suggests its use as a hallucinogen
