It is found in saline soils, sandy deserts and sea-shore. It is tolerant of salt and drought, and can grow in nutrient-poor soils.

Tamarix senegalensis is a species of flowering plants of the Tamaricaceae family, native to northwestern Africa and the Cape Verde islands. It is a tree or twiggy shrub, reaching 2-5 metres in height, with many small leaves. It is tolerant of salt and drought, and can grow in nutrient-poor soils, making it well-suited to saline soils, sandy deserts and sea-shore environments.
