Amaranthus powellii, also known as Powell's amaranth or green amaranth, is a species of amaranth found in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It has spread to other parts of the temperate Americas as a naturalized species and has been introduced to continents like Australia and Europe. This annual herb can grow up to two meters tall and has leaves up to 9 centimeters long. Its inflorescence contains clusters of male and female flowers with spiny green bracts. The fruit is a small capsule with shiny reddish black seeds.
