Amaranthus greggii, also known as Gregg's amaranth or Josiah amaranth, is a glabrous annual flowering plant found in Texas, Louisiana, and Mexico. It can reach up to 1m in height and is typically found in sandy areas near beaches. The plant is named after Josiah Gregg, a 19th century merchant, explorer, naturalist, and author who extensively studied the American Southwest and Northern Mexico.
