Pulmonaria longifolia, also known as Narrow-leaved Lungwort, is a herbaceous perennial plant native to western Europe. It can be found in semi-shaded habitats such as woodlands and scrub, up to 2000 meters above sea level. The plant has upright stems covered in bristly and glandular hairs, with basal leaves that are long and narrow, and stem leaves that are lanceolate or oval-lanceolate. In the spring, it produces funnel-shaped flowers that start off pink and turn blue or violet. The plant has a chromosome count of 2n=14 and has three subspecies, although they are not recognized as distinct by the Flora Europaea. In the New Forest in England, P. longifolia can be found alongside other plants such as wild daffodils, bluebells, and wood anemones. In cultivation, it is hardy to zone 5 and prefers light shade but can tolerate some sun. It does not do well in heavy shade or clay soil. There are several cultivars available, including 'Ankum', 'Bertram Anderson', and 'Dordogne', all with different flower colors and leaf characteristics.
