Gaillardia aestivalis, also known as lanceleaf blanketflower, is a flowering plant in the aster family. It is found in the southern and south-central regions of the United States, with some historical populations in Missouri and introduced populations in Nebraska. This plant is often grown as an ornamental. It is a perennial herb that can reach up to 60 centimeters in height and has leaves that vary in shape and size. The flower heads have 6-12 ray florets and many disc florets in the center, with colors ranging from purple to yellow to white. The fruit is an achene with a pappus of scales. There are three varieties of this plant, including the rare var. winkleri, which is only found in the Pineywoods of Texas.
