Eutrochium fistulosum, also known as hollow Joe-Pye weed, trumpetweed, or purple thoroughwort, is a perennial flowering plant native to southern Canada and the eastern and south central United States. It can grow up to 350 cm tall and is typically found in moist, rich soil near ditches, marshes, or in wet forests. The plant blooms from mid-summer to the first frosts and is a popular choice for gardeners due to its attractive appearance and ability to attract butterflies, bees, and other nectar-feeding insects. It also serves as a host for several moth species. The plant has a single erect stem with green and purple markings and large, toothed leaves. Its flower heads have 4-7 pink or purple disc flowers and no ray flowers.
