In summary, Artemisia filifolia, commonly known as sand sagebrush, is a species of flowering plant in the aster family native to North America. It is a woody shrub that grows up to 1.5 metres (4 ft 11 in) tall and has narrow, threadlike leaves. It is a dominant species in the west-central United States, particularly in areas with deep, sandy soils. It is an important species in prairie, grassland, and shrubland ecosystems, and is used for revegetation efforts on rangeland and coal fields. It is also used by the Navajo for medicinal and ritual purposes.
