Iris winkleri, also known as Winkler iris, is a bulbous perennial plant found in Central Asia. It belongs to the genus Iris and is classified in the subgenus Hermodactyloides and section Monolepsis. This species is similar to Iris kolpakowskiana, but can be distinguished by its brown bulb covering. It has linear leaves and green spathes, and grows up to 10-20 cm tall. It blooms in June with blueish-violet flowers. The plant was discovered in 1884 and named after botanist Konstantin George Alexander Winkler. It is native to temperate Asia and can be found at high altitudes of 3,000-4,000 m. Other sources mention its distribution in former Soviet Union states and its inclusion in plant atlases.
