Iris tenuis, also known as Clackamas iris, is a rhizomatous perennial plant native to Clackamas County, Oregon. It has white, pale blue or lilac flowers with a yellow or golden crest and pale green leaves. It is often grown as an ornamental plant in temperate regions. The plant is similar in form to Iris cristata but is taller and larger. It has slender rhizomes, shallow roots, and fan-like leaves. The flowers bloom in late spring and have two pairs of petals, with the outer petals being larger and the inner ones smaller. The plant has been studied for its cytology and has a published chromosome count of 2n=28. It was first discovered in 1881 and has since been classified in different subsections and sections. It is found in the Cascade Mountains in Oregon, growing in moist, leafy soils under Douglas fir and other shrubs. It is considered a sensitive species and is found in the Table Rock Wilderness and Mount Hood National Forest.
