Iris narcissiflora is a rhizomatous perennial plant species that belongs to the genus Iris and is native to China. It has pale green, sword-shaped leaves and a slender stem that can grow up to 30 cm tall. The plant produces one yellow flower on a terminal stem between April and May. Its petals are elliptic or obovate in shape and have a sparse beard in the center. The plant is commonly known as narcissus iris and is found in forests and grasslands at altitudes of up to 3,900 meters. It is cultivated as an ornamental plant in temperate regions and is hardy to temperatures below -20°C. However, it is a rare plant in Europe and has been mistakenly re-classified as Iris dolichosiphon in some herbariums and Botanical Gardens. The plant is toxic if ingested and can cause skin irritation if handled.
