Iris narbutii is a bulbous perennial plant from Central Asia, belonging to the genus Iris and subgenus Scorpiris. It has dark green leaves and short stems, and produces spring flowers in shades of greenish-yellow to pale violet. The plant has a brown bulb with thickened roots, and its leaves have a visible white edging. It is one of the shorter Juno irises, growing to a height of 5-10 cm. The flowers bloom in early-mid spring and have a range of colors, with a dark violet blotch at the tip and a raised white crest surrounded by a yellow zone. The plant is sometimes misspelled as 'Iris narbuti' and was first published in 1902. It is now an accepted name by the RHS and is native to the slopes of Syr-Darya river valley in Central Asia. It is found on rocky, gravelly slopes of the mountains and is a threatened species in some areas. It can be cultivated in pots or well-drained soils in sunny areas. There are also known hybrids of Iris narbutii, such as 'Kara Kaga'.
