Iris delavayi is a species of flowering plant in the subgenus Limniris and in the series Sibiricae of the family Iridaceae. It is native to various provinces in China and is cultivated as an ornamental plant in temperate regions. This rhizomatous herbaceous perennial has grey-green leaves, long hollow stems, and produces 2 flowers in various shades of blue. It is larger and more vigorous in growth than Iris sibirica. The plant has been studied for its iridal properties and has a chromosome count of 2n=40. It is known for its chemical diversity and is classified within the sub-group of the series, called the Sino-siberians. The plant is named after the 19th century French missionary Père Jean Marie Delavay and has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. It is found in swampy places, mountain marshes, forest margins, and wet meadows at high elevations in China and Bhutan. Iris delavayi is cultivated in gardens and can be propagated by division of the rhizomes or by seed. It is also used as a postage stamp in Cambodia. The plant is toxic if ingested and may cause
