Iris danfordiae, also known as the dwarf iris or Danford iris, is a perennial plant native to Turkey in Asia. It has two gray-green or bluish green leaves and a short stem that holds a scented flower in shades of yellow. The flower has olive-green or green spots and a deep yellow or orange crest. It is one of the first reticulata irises to bloom, even through snow, in early spring. This plant is cold hardy and prefers neutral to alkaline soils in full sun. It can be propagated by division or by collecting and sowing its seeds. Like many other irises, it is poisonous if ingested and may cause skin irritation. There are several cultivars of Iris danfordiae, including 'Atilla', 'Bornmülleri', and 'Danfordiae Hort'.
