Iris aucheri, also known as the Aucher-Éloy iris, is a bulbous perennial plant in the Iridaceae family. It belongs to the Juno group of irises, which produce multiple flowers per plant. This species grows up to 25 cm tall and has lance-shaped leaves. It blooms in late winter or early spring, with flowers that can be white, pale blue, or dark blue with a yellow splash on the falls. It has a pleasant violet-like scent. Its biochemistry, specifically its chromosomal count of 2n = 24, can be used to identify hybrids and classify groupings. A study in 2014 found that it has a purity value of 1.26. The plant is named after the 19th century French botanist Pierre Martin Rémi Aucher-Éloy. It is native to temperate Western Asia and can be found in Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Jordan. Iris aucheri is often cultivated as an ornamental plant in gardens, and it requires neutral or slightly alkaline soil in a sheltered, frost-free spot. It is hardy down to USDA Zone 6 and has been given the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
