Yucca necopina Shinners, also known as the Brazos River yucca or Glen Rose yucca, is a rare plant found in north-central Texas. It is a member of the Asparagaceae family and is characterized by its perennial shrub form and greenish-white flowers that bloom in the Spring. It grows in small colonies of rosettes, reaching a height of 2 feet, with bloom stalks that can reach up to 7 feet. This species is similar to Y. pallida and Y. arkansana, but DNA evidence confirms its distinctiveness. Yucca necopina Shinners is native to a small region in Texas, specifically in Somervell, Hood, Parker, and Tarrant Counties, west of Dallas and Fort Worth. It thrives in river terraces and deep sand habitats.
