Polygonatum multiflorum, also known as Solomon's seal, is a flowering plant found in Europe and temperate Asia. It is one of three native species in Britain, along with P. odoratum and P. verticillatum. This rhizomatous perennial can grow up to 90 cm tall and has arching stems with alternate leaves. Its white flowers with green tips hang from the undersides of the stems, giving it a unique appearance. It is popular in cultivation for its ability to thrive in shady areas and is often used in woodland-style plantings. The plant's name, multiflorum, means "many-flowered". A hybrid of this species, Polygonatum × hybridum, has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
