Agave univittata, also known as the thorn-crested century plant, is a plant species found in coastal areas of southern Texas and northeastern Mexico. It has been previously misidentified as Agave lophantha, but the correct name is A. univittata. The plant has thick, fleshy leaves with sharp spines on the edges and tips. Its flowering stalk can reach up to 5 meters in height and bears greenish-white to yellowish-green flowers. A popular ornamental plant, the cultivar 'Quadricolor' has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit in the UK. Despite its widespread distribution, the species is not considered threatened by the IUCN due to its stable population.
