Allium thunbergii, also known as Thunberg's chive or Thunberg garlic, is a wild onion species native to East Asia, specifically Japan, Korea, and China. It can be found at elevations of up to 3000 m. While some sources consider A. thunbergii and A. stenodon to be separate species, newer research has combined them. This plant produces small egg-shaped bulbs and tall scapes, with triangular leaves that are longer than the scape. Its crowded umbels contain red or purple flowers. The species is named after the Swedish botanist Carl Peter Thunberg and has been recognized by the Royal Horticultural Society with an Award of Garden Merit.
