Allium paradoxum, also known as few-flowered garlic or few-flowered leek, is a wild onion species native to mountainous regions of Iran, Caucasus, and Turkmenistan. It has a distinct 'garlicky' smell and can grow up to 20-40 cm in height. This plant was introduced to the British Isles in 1823 and is now considered an invasive species in Europe. It is commonly found in lowland areas and can be identified by its triangular flower stem and narrow leaves. The few-flowered leek is listed as an illegal plant in England and Wales due to its invasive nature. It is often found in deciduous woodlands and can smother other native species. However, it is also edible and can be used in various dishes or as a herb for flavoring food.
