Allium melananthum, also known as dark garlic, black garlic, or black-flowered garlic, is a type of wild garlic found in southeastern coastal regions of Spain. It is closely related to three other Allium species found in the western Mediterranean, but can be identified by its dark purple to blackish-purple petals and visible stamens. This unique garlic variety adds a distinct color and flavor to dishes and is a popular ingredient in Spanish cuisine.
