Allium hoffmanii, also known as beegum onion, is a wild onion species native to northern California. It thrives in the serpentine soils of Siskiyou, Humboldt, Trinity, Shasta, and Tehama Counties. This plant has a short stem and a brown or reddish bulb, with a single leaf that can be longer than the stem. Its inflorescence contains up to 40 pink or purple flowers with greenish veining, each about a centimeter long. The stamens have purple anthers at the tips and are bumpy at their bases.
