Allium gilgiticum is a rare and potentially extinct species of onion found in Asia. It was first collected in the 1930s in the Gilgit District of Pakistan, located in the Himalayas. This region is known for its ongoing dispute with India over Kashmir. The plant grows to about 50 cm tall and has a round cluster of purple flowers. It is currently only known from its original collection and has not been seen since.
