The Douglas onion, scientifically known as Allium douglasii, is a plant species found in northeastern Oregon, eastern Washington, and northern Idaho. It typically grows in shallow soils at elevations between 400 and 1,300 meters. This plant produces egg-shaped bulbs that can grow up to 3 cm in length. Its scapes, or flower stalks, are round and can reach heights of up to 40 cm. The flowers of the Douglas onion are small, measuring up to 10 mm in diameter, and have pink or purple tepals with green midribs. The anthers are blue and the pollen is white or light gray. During the flowering stage, two grooved leaves are usually present.
